Important information for Ohio ATV riders

Ohio law has changed and now requires all ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) to be registered with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, unless it is used only as a farm implement on your farm.

Although your policy of insurance hasn’t changed, this decision by the state affects the coverage afforded in your homeowners policy if you own an all-terrain vehicle. Under Section 1-Property Coverage and Section II-Liability Coverage, there previously was limited coverage for the operation of an ATV.

Because motorized vehicles that are subject to motor vehicle registration have always been excluded from coverage in homeowners policies, it is now necessary that you insure your ATV on a motorcycle policy if you don’t already do so.

You may already have the appropriate coverage for your ATV. But if you are unsure, your independent Motorists agent can find the insurance that best fits your needs.
